Tables show that all aspects of the RCH Programme, including neonatal care, infant health, under-5 care, antenatal, intranatal and post natal care, adolescent health, contraception, STI/ RTI's, etc, are dealt with by carefully-drawn faculty. The 5-day practical programme further refines the clinical skills. Particular emphasis is put on counselling so that the trainees learn how to engage in fruitful group as well as interpersonal sessions, to empower their clients to take correct and responsible decisions, which would increase acceptance of services voluntarily and eagerly.
Pre-testing is done both at the beginning of the course as well as before every new session; it helps the speakers and facilitators to improve their interactive skills. Audiovisual aids are used liberally, and each session is followed by participatory interaction as well as practical exercises. Where needed, role playing is resorted to. Post-training evaluation shows that the training programmes are very well-taken and found useful, thought-provoking and action-oriented.
In addition to the photocopied material, all the trainees receive a special manual prepared by the Institute to help them disseminate their knowledge and skills to their paramedics.
Scores of films on different aspects of maternal and child health are screened.
